Before every surgery, we offer pre-anesthetic bloodwork which can aid in the detection of any unseen illness and help our doctors choose the proper anesthetic protocols to follow for your pet's individual needs. During our surgeries and dental cleanings, a technician is always present to aid in monitoring of our patients with the doctor. Our electronic monitoring systems monitor heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, carbon dioxide output, and oxygenation of the blood. Our patients are warmed with a Baer hugger which helps to regulate their body temperature, and an intravenous catheter is placed, and IV fluids are given throughout the entire procedure to help maintain normal blood pressure. At Benbow Veterinary Services, we also offer acupuncture for your pet during anesthetic procedures, which helps to regulate circulation and decrease pain and inflammation. Finally, while your pet is waking up from their procedure, a technician is warming them with blankets, continuously monitoring their gum color and respiration, and of course, giving them lots of love!
